Discover how to efficiently organize your browsing experience by grouping tabs in the most popular web browsers: Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox.
In Google Chrome, simply right-click on a tab, choose “Add tab to new group,” and customize the group with a name and color. To add more tabs, drag and drop them near the group or right-click and select “Add tab to group.” You can also save tab groups as bookmarks for easy access.
In Microsoft Edge, right-click on a tab to create a new group or click on the Tab actions menu icon and select “Organize Tabs” to utilize suggested tab groups. Drag tabs to organize them, then click “Group tabs” to finalize the arrangement.
How to Group Tabs in Firefox
Regrettably, Firefox lacks a native tab grouping feature, necessitating the use of add-ons to handle multiple tabs efficiently. While various add-ons are available, Simple Tab Groups stands out as a popular and useful option.
After installing the add-on, simply right-click on any tab, choose “Move tab to the group,” and then opt to “Create new group.” Assign a name to the tab group and relocate all relevant tabs accordingly.
Simple Tab Groups offers a clutter-free browsing experience by hiding grouped tabs from your window. To access tab groups, simply click the extension icon and select Simple Tab Groups. Here, you can create new tab groups or open existing ones. Right-clicking on the group name reveals additional options, including discarding, exporting, or opening tabs in a new window.
How to Group Tabs in Safari
To create a new tab group in Safari, click the down icon (located next to the sidebar icon) and choose “New Empty Tab Group” if you prefer to start with an empty group. Alternatively, if you already have tabs open, select “New Tab Group with X Tabs” to include all open tabs in the new group.
Once the tab group is created, Safari allows you to rename it according to your preferences. You can also access the option to create a tab group by clicking on “File.”
After organizing your tabs into groups, simply click the down arrow located beside the sidebar icon in Safari. This action will reveal all the different tab groups you’ve created. From there, you can easily select the desired tab group to open.
